Q: Error ”NetAuthSysAgent: ERROR: AFP_GetServerInfo - connect failed 64”

Error ”NetAuthSysAgent: ERROR: AFP_GetServerInfo - connect failed 64”

Some years ago I stopped to use my external network hard disc. Then I updated to Mac OS X 10.6. I guess from that time on, always at startup I had following error pop-up window:

Screen Shot connecting to the server.png

“There was a problem connecting to the server “networkspace.local”. The server may not exist or it is unavailable at this time. Check the server name or IP address, check your network connection, and then try again.”

The console has this log lines:

“NetAuthSysAgent: ERROR: AFP_GetServerInfo - connect failed 64”

My file com.apple.AppleShareClient.plist look that way:

Screen com.apple.AppleShareClient.plist.png

What is wrong? How can I get rid of this error pop-up window.

I moved now to Mavericks, but the same error occurs.

Regards,

M.

While I don't have a solution for getting rid of the error, I did find a workaround.

Finder: Go -> Connect to Server...

    Click the Browse button

Locate your server (assuming you can connect via the local network using Bonjour)

    Click Connect As...

This seems to work even when the Connect button generates the error shown above.

This question may be old but I had the same problem.

    Solution:

Check your login-items under System Preferences > Users & Groups. You most likely have something in there that want's to connect your network drive on startup.

Hi! I had the same problem. But I was faced with it just in a few days after first setup a new mac. And I needed to solve it .

My problem was in mac firewall. One of my apps needed connection to my remote mac via afp. And it was added to firewall rules. Like a skype on this screeenshot (sorry for russian language, it is firewall settings window):

I removed the app from this list and the problem was sold.

Firewall settings have nothing to do with this problem seeing that I have the same problem but have Apple's firewall turned off.  Read all the details of my case here:

now i turned firewall back on and set it to accept incoming connections, then ok'd the backservice and netsession_mac apps when they came up, and message went away until I tried to connect to the server it was complaining about.  I want to shut it down and try it as the problem happens whether it is up or not.  but I am typing on it not, so will have to report back with my findings.
