Every time I copy from another email or a website the pasted text has a box around it that makes it difficuly to manipulate. Is there a way to turn this "feature" off?

The key command is listed in the menu next to "Paste and Match Style." There was no need to use your url reference.
Searching the web to find stuff that is right before your eyes.
Paste into a plain text TextEdit document and copy it from there.
