When I receive a text, my notification screen stays on. I've tried to change Auto Lock -- didn't help.
Adjusting Auto Lock doesn't help.

Do you mean it stays on indefinately? What was your auto lock set to? If you receive a text and your phone is locked and it pops up in Notification center, then it should only stay on a very short period of time. Auto lock should not even affect that. It should only be about 10 seconds or so. There is no adjustment for that.
Thanks for the reply! The notification screen stays on indefinitely. I didn't have this problem with my iphone 4, before upgrading to iphone 5s.
What setting do you have set for Alert Style in Messages. Check by going to Settings>Notification Center>Messages. Do you have the switch on for Show on Lock Screen?
Alert Style is set to Alerts. Show on lock screen is turned on.
I'm not sure, but Alerts require action after they come in. That might be what is keeping the screen on, until you acknowledge the alert. Try changing it to Banners for a little while and wait until you get a text and see if that changes it.
