How do I change my HD Icon ?

how do i change my hard drive icon in mavericks? thanks for the help everyone 🙂

Like you would any icon.


open the pic you want to add, the command A (select all), now command c to copy.


With the MacintoshHD on your Desktop click on it, command i to open the info pane.


In the upper left corner of the info pane click on the icon (it highlites to blue)


Know command v to paste your pic.


Admin password will be required.


command Z of coures returns it to default.

You don't have your icon in the proper form. It needs to be a true icon copied, for example, from a folder or file icon. You have it as a Preview image file.


Try this: open the file in Preview. Click on the image to select it, then press COMMAND-C to copy the image to the clipboard. Now try pasting it.
