How do I change my HD Icon ?

First, obtain an image of another icon that you can copy to the clipboard. Then Press COMMAND-I to open the Get Info window. Click in the current icon image then press COMMAND-V to paste your image from the clipboard.

Like you would any icon.

open the pic you want to add, the command A (select all), now command c to copy.

With the MacintoshHD on your Desktop click on it, command i to open the info pane.

In the upper left corner of the info pane click on the icon (it highlites to blue)

Know command v to paste your pic.

Admin password will be required.

command Z of coures returns it to default.

i am doing that but all it pastes is a png......i even downloaded system icons and when i get info it doesint show the image it just shows what you see here....

You don't have your icon in the proper form. It needs to be a true icon copied, for example, from a folder or file icon. You have it as a Preview image file.

Try this: open the file in Preview. Click on the image to select it, then press COMMAND-C to copy the image to the clipboard. Now try pasting it.

thanks for the info... it worked.... i opened it in preview then selected all then copy/paste.... now i have me new HD logo 🙂...
