My iPad battery seems to drain quickly when I'm using it. Is there a way to prolong the battery life?

What are you using it for? Intensive things will drain it faster, such as movies and games.
You might also want to poke around in the settings and see what's on in there. iOS7 defaulted a lot of stuff on, such as notifications that you may not need, background app refresh, background app updates. turning extra stuff off might help save the battery for other stuff.
My iPad is being used mostly for reading and e-mail. I will look at the settings as you suggest to see if I can turn the extra stuff off. Thanks!
