Hi William Rivas,
I have an article for you that can help you set your tags preferences:
OS X: Tags help you organize your files
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5839
You may also need to simply delete the existing tags from your applications. Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities. Have a good one!

This method, of openinb the Finder and delting a Tag is NO GOOD
I want to file url of my pdf and docs - where I got them from
I can paste in a text tag of the url.
But if I delete that from the Finder, the tag on the file is delted too
THIS IS AN APALLING SYSTEM

I'm confused as to what you want. If you want the tag on the file, then don't delete the tag.
If you download a document from the web, the download URL is automatically attached to the metadata and can be found in the Get Info window in the More Info section.
It appears it will only get tagged by Safari if it is downloaded as opposed to opened in browser and saved.
So, you would have to right-click and select Donwload Linked File instead of clicking on it and having it open in the browser. Seems kind of dumb that it still wouldn't tag it.
I think that understand what you say.
And yes that is totally entirely dumb.
I have an Apple mouse, which I like because it just goes "click".
Do you mean that I now have to program the mouse (for the first time) that the right side key is used to dowload files direct from their url, instead of using my browser.
If so, that is both slower and a lot less convenient
Thx
Stuart
OK, I have found a better way of embedding the Where From url with Safari
No right clicking - keyboard controls

You can make Safari on the Mac download ANY files (mp3, mp4, jpg, pdf and more) by doing the following.
The file you are viewing downloads to the Downloads folder on the mac.
I've tested this with almost all file types possible. Very very useful little feature that unfortunately too few people know about.
