Blank defective disc not recognized in drive

Put a blank CDR disc into the drive (a MATSHITA DVD-R UJ-875). My guess is that the disc is defective. The computer did not recognize that there is a disc in the drive. So I can't eject it because it isn't there. How do I get it out of the drive?

I have tried all of the 5 standard ways of getting a disc to eject and none of them worked.
