Adding Spaces with Mavericks

I have a dual monitor set-up with my Mac Mini. Before upgrading to Mavericks (from Mountain Lion), when I went into Mission Control view with the F9 key, I had eight Spaces -- four at the top of each monitor.

After upgrading to Mavericks, I now have four Spaces on the right-hand (main) monitor but only one Space on the second monitor when in Mission Control. So I went from 8 spaces down to 5 total on the two monitors.

I don't know why the number went from 8 to 5, nor can I figure out how to add Spaces on the left-hand monitor to regain a total of four on that monitor.

How do I add additional Spaces to a particular monitor?

Thanks!

Mac mini, OS X Mavericks (10.9), 8 gigs RAM

Run Mission Control, move your cursor to the top right side of the monitor you want to add spaces to - a + should slide over when in the top right corner.
