How to copy previously-burned DVD-R video discs

http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2059

To create an image file, launch Disk Utility and select File: New: Disk Image From Folder. In the window that appears, navigate to the desired folder and then click on Image. Give the image file a name, and click on Save when prompted. That’s it.

Or, if you have Roxio Toast, just use the copy function.

iDVD should have helped you burn videos, MP3 music, and digital photos to a DVD that was then played on a standalone DVD player, but it seems that Apple doesn't offer it in iLife suite after 2010.

I suggest you stick with a tool like DVD Creator which are actually real encoders.

It burns almost all type of file formats (QuickTime MOV, MPEG-4 video...) into DVD. it does everything.
