Oct 31, 2013 8:30 AM in response to mamie94by Klaus1,How to copy previously-burned DVD-R video discs
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2059
To create an image file, launch Disk Utility and select File: New: Disk Image From Folder. In the window that appears, navigate to the desired folder and then click on Image. Give the image file a name, and click on Save when prompted. That’s it.
Or, if you have Roxio Toast, just use the copy function.

Nov 7, 2013 12:06 AM in response to mamie94by siberjames,iDVD should have helped you burn videos, MP3 music, and digital photos to a DVD that was then played on a standalone DVD player, but it seems that Apple doesn't offer it in iLife suite after 2010.
I suggest you stick with a tool like DVD Creator which are actually real encoders.
