I cannot figure out how to change the photo size on my iPhone 5s. The first time I took a pic it asked if I wanted smalll, medium or large and listed the pixels. I chose small but am now finding that is too small. Can anyone help me set it to medium now? I can't find any setting for that. I'm a newby to iPhones and have no idea what I'm doing. Thanks for any help you can offer.

If you are using Apple's Camera app, there is no way to change the size of the photo that is taken. Instead, you change the size when you are sharing the photo. For example, if you choose to email the photo, the Mail program will ask you to choose the size of the image (I believe it is small, medium, large, original). You need this choice because the iPhone 5s takes very large photos; the files are so big that some email systems will reject them. You should be asked to choose a size each time you email a photo.

(If you are using a different app, then you'll have to let us know which one.)

When you say the photos are too small, where are you seeing the "too small" photos? More details, please.

Are you using the eBay app and taking the photos while you are in the app? If so, then the option for photo size is somewhere in that application. You need to contact eBay to get help; it's not an Apple problem.

If you are taking the photos using the Apple Camera app and then using the eBay app to add them to the listing, then the problem is still in the eBay app.

As I explained earlier, the Camera app does not allow you to select the photo size.

By "sending" do you mean sending email?

If so, what app are you using to take the photos on your iPhone 5? Or are the photos from a different source (saved to your Camera Roll from somewhere else, like a web page or Messages)?

My guess is that Mail gives you the option to send different file sizes when it detects you are trying to Mail a really large photo file. The size of photos on the iPhone 5 is really big and some email providers may stop your mail from being delivered if attachments are too large. Thus, Mail tries to help you by offering to resize the photo.

I suspect that if you are sending smaller files, Mail does not bother giving you options to save a smaller version. In fact, I have seen this behavior. So, if the photo is already "small enough", it gets sent as-is.

To my knowledge, there is no global iOS setting for this. Some apps may have different rules, of course.

It does not give me an option to change sizes regardless of the app with which I initiate the photo transmission: the camera roll, iPhone Mail, Facebook, Twitter, etc.

The only setting I see that might change the size in someway would be the one that gives you the option to keep the original photo in addition to the HDR (high dynamic range) one that is automatically retained. I have it set not to retain the original.

I have a iPhone 4s and with iOS 7.0 it asked me every time I sent an email from within 'Photos' whether I wanted to send (from memory) a small, medium, large or Actual size Image. Now I have iOS 7.1 and the iPhone no longer asks me what size and sends a small one as default. My better half has a iPhone 5c (iOS 7.1) and when sending her these to my hotmail or gmail account these come through as 30-40kb which is a very small image!

Without doing anything (accept logging on here to type this and checking my iOS) I now have the options back of small, medium, large or Actual size Images,...the only other thing I did was send an image via Text (which didn't give the options). All very Odd!

Bingo!!!!

My GF (better half) checked her iOS was 7.1 (don't think this is relevant to fixing the issue) then sent me a photo in a Text/SMS (no size options provided); then she sent me an email (to hotmail, but probably doesn't matter which providor) and when sending she was asked whether the image should be sent as small, medium, large or actual size,...selecting actual size provide me with an email attachment of some 2.3mb.

Subsequent iPhone photo sends prompted for the size of image to be sent. I call that fixed :-)

I cannot figure out how to change the photo size on my iPhone 5s. I was given the choice of small, medium or large the first time I took a picture. Now I have no idea how to change it to medium. Can anyone help?
