I'm trying to register my old iWorks so that i can get the new update that comes with upgrading to Mavericks.

I upgraded to the new Mavericks and i wanted to get the new pages, keynote, and numbers but they dont show up in my updates. So i figured that it was because i didn't register them when i first bought them. The problem is that Apple has stopped the online registration and i can't register them. All im trying to do is get the new programs. My friend said that the updates for them should come up when i check in the app store.

No, there is no need to register the apps. There are several reasons why the updates don't show as free for those who already have iWork '09 installed.

1. You must have iWork '09 apps & they must be updated to the x.3 version. You can also download the standalone updater from this page.

2. If you are not using English as the primary language for your Mac, change to English & run Software Update. You can then switch back to your preferred language.

3. Go to Mac App Store (MAS) > Click on Store > Check for Unfinished Downloads. You will need to individually click into each application > Click update > enter in your Apple ID & password and then it will start updating.

4. Open App Store on your Mac & look at the buttons under Keynote, Pages & Numbers. If it does not say “Update” click Account under Quick Links, enter your password & click “View Account.” Next, click the “Reset” button to the right of “Reset all warnings for buying and downloading” at the bottom of this page, & click Done. Check your updates tab & iWork & iLife updates should now appear.

These are the ones I've seen work for others.

Number one on my list ist "You must have iWork '09."

The update is available for those using iWork '09. Even if it were possible to update iWork '08 to the new versions, you would have many, many problems. The new versions cannot open any iWork '08 or earlier documents or templates. You will get an error saying to open the files in iWork '09 then open them in the new version. I suggest that you buy a retail copy of iWork '09 from a third party such as Amazon or eBay & then update to the new iWork apps in the Mac App Store.
