how to reset to factory default (late 2013 imac)

Hi,

I've purchased imac (late 2013) with mountain lion. I've setup initially and installed few application, but I'm trying to revert it to factory default and try to set it up from the scratch again, wipe out all the initial changes I've made. I want to start from the clean start, migrating old data and applications from the setup from my clone etc. How can I revert to the setup? I've restarted and cmd+r then reisntall osx but that brings me right back to the where I left off.

iMac, OS X Mavericks (10.9)

You are doing it correctly. However, you don't have to reinstall OS X just after holding Command and R keys while your computer is starting, because you need to erase the hard drive first.

Open Disk Utility in the OS X Utilities window, choose Macintosh HD in the sidebar, go to Erase tab and erase teh drive. Then, close Disk Utility and reinstall OS X. For more information about OS X Recovery > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4718
