Pages 5.0 can't open iCloud documents. Has anybody run into this issue?

I'm not having any issues saving Pages 5 files to iCloud, editing/saving them from my iPhone or opening Pages 5 files from iCloud.

I get the following when trying to open with Pages 4.3 a Pages 5 Exported file to Pages 09 format.

Try right clicking on the Pages file you're opening and click Open With then select Pages 5 as the app.

Yeah, you're right. I forgot you were trying to open them from iCloud.

I tested both a Pages 5 document that I saved in iCloud and a Pages 4.3 document saved in iCloud. Both opened fine from iCloud with Pages 5.

I had the same problem. I solved it by doing the following things

1. Move all of your iCloud documents to a local folder (offline).
2. Go to the iCloud preference pane i System Preferences.
3. Click Manage... and delete all Pages data.

I also did some more things, not sure if they are necessary:

1. Go back to iCloud preferences and uncheck "Documents & Data".
2. Check it again.
3. Delete ~/Library/Caches/--anything related to Pages or iWork--

Then reupload your documents to iCloud. They should open now.

Hi all...this can be a very frustrating issue. Nevertheless, it can be resolved easily by going into system preferences and logging out of your iCloud account. Completely sign out....

Once you have done this, log back in and then open Pages. Open a document stored within the cloud and it will open the way it was designed from now on!

I also encountered this problem. After following suneson's instructions, I am pleased to say that the problem has been rectified; I am once again able to OPEN Pages documents saved to iCloud. I am very appreciative, thank you! Oh, I just read Michael L. Bingham's post; if I encounter this issue again, I will follow the steps he provided. Thank you both.

Logging out of iCloud on my MacBook is what resolved this for me! Great suggestion.

I'm running into this problem repeatedly. On one of my computers, every few days all iWork apps on my mac - pages, keynote, numbers - will refuse to open any of the documents on iCloud. Funny thing is, I can drag the icloud document to my desktop, and it will open the document that is on the desktop. But the version that is in iCloud on this computer won't open. I can open those same iCloud document on other computers or on iOS devices.

I can get access to the iCloud documents by logging out of iCloud and then logging back in. (un-checking and re-checking the "documents & data" option in the iCloud preference panel doesn't do it). But then, I wait a few days, and I will no longer have access to those iCloud documents from the computer. What a pain!

Any ideas on how to fix this? Maybe we'll have to wait for apple to issue a fix. Seems like some sort of OS problem...

You have both versions of your iWork appliactions the older ones have been moved to your Applications/iWork folder.

The older versions can't open anything with the later ones and the later ones usually screw up files from the older ones.

You are alternately opening the wrong versions.

Thanks for your response, Peter. I do have both versions installed, but I'm only using Pages 5.01. I never use the older version any more. So, I'm pretty sure that the problem is NOT that I'm opening up these files with older and then newer (or vice versa) versions of Pages. I think there is a deeper problem than this.

I was also experiencing same issues without being to open Older Pages Docs from iCloud in Pages 5. I followed suneson Recommendation and process to the T... Works perfectly.

Important to note you do have to do the second part in order for it to work completely. I tested just the first half and still had issues. Once Disabling and Re-enabling Documents and Clearing Cache - works perfectly now. Thanks Suneson!

Version 5.0.1 cannot open docscreated with 5.1 or the current version of Pages for iCloud or Pages 2.1 for ios.
