Imac Kernel panic and no sound.

Hello Helpers!

I've recently returned from a spell abroad and discovered that my Mac has decided to die.

My IMac 10.6.8 is having a Kernel panic/trap everytime I switch it on. It boots fine in safe mode but there is no sound or wifi connection.

I'm not a super tech person but have tried the following to no avail...

- Connect to modem and download software updates

- Repaired and verified all discs in disc utility

- Tried to re-install OS X from a hard drive but it is not reconising the hard drive except in disc utility and booting and holding command + R isn't doing anything. I do not have the OS X disc but it is not accepting anything into the CD drive anyway.

Included a pic of the panic information. If you guys have any suggestions I'd be very grateful, pretty close to bashing my head against the wall here!
