G5 tower - 2GHz DP with video card - MAD UPGRADE !..?

Hey Community,

I just got a G5 tower from a friend and I really want to make this a screaming machine.
It has a processor and video card, no RAM and no Hard Drive.

I've heard that you can put a maximum of 8Gb RAM, in dual slots (2 sticks), is this true?
I'm imagining if you put in more it will be inactive and unused, so 16 or 32 Gb is ruled out??

I want to shop for components to make this thing run, for creating docs, editing photos, maybe even sound recording.

What suggestions do people have??

I have an old 250Gb MacBook hard drive from my laptop before that was swapped, but I"m guessing that may not be compatible since its

not 7200RPM. Can someone confirm this?

Links would be appreciated 🙂

Thanks so much for reading and responding.

Hi Luke,

If you don't know the model, find the Serial# & use it on one of these sites, but don't post the Serial# here...
