How to setup Canon Selphy CP900 printer over WiFi in Mavericks?

I have Mavericks and just got a CP910. It would not print or show up as a airprint printer. I finally discovered that the printer was giving itself a static IP address. For some reason it was connecting to my wifi network (an Airport Extreme), but ignoring the automatic configuration. It was set to receive auto settings in the printer settings.

I had to provide a DHCP reservation on the Airport Extreme with the printers MAC address (found in settings) and then re-attach to the network. Then it got an IP address on the right subnet and everything started working.

Maybe I was just doing something wrong, but i walked through the setup instructions and I think most people would expect to just connect it to their wifi and see it in airprint without a DHCP reservation.

I'm not sure if it was just me, but this was an incredibly annoying setup process taking me over 2 hours of fiddling and troubleshooting prior to figuring this out. I highly doubt anyone without experience setting up network devices would have known what to do or try at this point. I was about ready to return it.

So i just got the 910 and i can't even install the driver package. it says not compatible with my current operating system.

I'm running 10.9.1

so, that's really annoying. i've already contacted Canon. it remains to be seen if they will get back to me.

were you able to install the printer driver from the CD?

Redogg, your edited file through dropbox worked great!!!. Installed it pulled up the add printer dialog, gave it a minute to detect it on the network and it installed without a hitch.

I'm desperate 'cause I don't find the software to edit pic in identity picture with my selphy 900 and Canon is desired... 😢

I use Aperture to do the editing which is much better than the crappy Canon photo editor. I would think that iPhone would work as well? Have you tried opening the photo in iPhoto and editing, then printing to the Selphy? This is what I do (using Aperture).

Downloaded the "new" Canon CP900 Mavericks driver and it works perfectly. Too bad it took 3 months of active discussions to motivate Canon. I wonder if they intend to support Windows 8.

Yeah, well we have to wait and see. I sure hope so, but I'm not holding my breath ;-)
