Q: How to setup Canon Selphy CP900 printer over WiFi in Mavericks?

Hi,

After upgrade to Mavericks I can't install my Canon Selphy CP900 printer.

I simply wanted to print over WiFi network.

How could I do that?

Thanks in advance!

Thank you for making the package available on your dropbox account. Made it really easy and worked perfectly.

    Big thanks to redogg!!!

I was unable to change the text in TextEdit without having troubles with JavaSkript.

Then i figured out to use XCode to change the text and it worked out!!!!

    Thanks again redogg

    Redogg, You are a legend!

However, can anyone get the CP900 to work wirelessly? After downloading the dropbox file and installing it, I can only get the printer to work when connected via USB to the computer.

Mine is working wirelessly, but not immediately.  When I went to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners and clicked "+" to Add a printer, the "Add" dialogue window opened without the Canon CP900 showing up.  It took between 30-60 seconds for it to show up.  After that, I added it as usual.  I performed a test print from iPhoto and it worked wirelessly.

Canon is up to their old games.  They aren't releasing drivers for the CP900 because they just introduced the CP910 at CES that is compatible with 10.9 (so much for them saying the printer is only for stand-alone use!).  This is forced obsolescence for no functional reason, only to benefit their bottom line.  It seems Canon's stance is that if you want to use a Selphy printer with Mac 10.9, fork out $100 for the new version of the printer (which is functionally the same other than "instagram" style prints...read "square").  I am sure when 10.10 comes out later this year, history will repeat and they will introduce a CP920 and not release updated drivers for the CP910.

    Hi redogg,

I have the selphy cp800 and os 10.9.1 mavericks... i have downloaded the printer driver 6.2.1 pkg and follow your instruction by following the link you shared then typing packagemaker in the search but i'm not finding the Packagemaker.app... i'm obviously missing something here.

Your help would be much appreciated.

    Thank you,

    Marie.

Another big, "Thank You", to redogg!  Just received the Canon Selphy CP900, today, and was up and running in short time.  It took a bit to understand Canon's jargon like, "access point", when all I really wanted it to read was, "your wifi network".

Successfully printed wirelessly from iPhone5 and Nexus4 (after downloading the Canon Selphy apps), and wirelessly from my MBP.  Also printed from SDHC card inserted into the printer, but haven't gotten around to connecting the MBP, via USB cable, to the printer.  I have not installed the software that came with the printer, since I don't really need it, or its abilities....maybe someday.

    Thanks again, redogg!

    Fantastic.

    Thank you so much.

Just got a Canon Selphy CP900 for Christmas from my partner.

Without this, I wouldn't be enjoying it...

(Unbelievable that Canon don't have this on their site.)

    Cheers

    Hi all, and Redogg,

Seing everyone succeed I gave it a try but got stuck once I dragged the edited distribution file back in FPE and tried to save.

Error message: The document could not be saved

If anyone would be kind enough to send me the working pkg by email jessicathery@yahoo.fr

Hope we all find a way to keep our selphy working with all the upcoming OS systems.

Happy new year to you all!

    Jessica
