Nov 1, 2013 6:54 AM in response to ckuanby mainstationsheriff, thanks for responding but that is not the issue. the warning i am receiving shows up when i open the app and shouldn't have anything to do with itunes or sync. the app used to push alerts to the phone and no longer does so. this is happening on more than one app. the push alerts seem to have stopped working.

Nov 1, 2013 7:02 AM in response to ckuanby mainstationsheriff, yes. i tried the reset on itunes. the message box i am receiving when i try to use the app says "connect to itunes to use push notifications" and has an "ok" button but does not have the box to check to no longer show the message. notifications are set the same as they always have been on the iphone and use to work fine.

Nov 1, 2013 7:23 AM in response to mainstationsheriffby Ralph9430,It might be helpful to know which apps are giving you this message. I've never seen this on my iPhone or iPad. Do all apps on your device give this message or just a few? Which one(s)?

Nov 1, 2013 7:28 AM in response to Ralph9430by mainstationsheriff,"chase" which is chase bank mobile banking and "myAT&T". i had been receiving alerts from both of these before the most recent software update (or this could be a coincidence in the timing) but i no longer receive push notification alerts from either. both apps show the message to connect to itunes to use push notification everytime i open the app.
i appreciate your continued attempt to help.

Nov 1, 2013 7:36 AM in response to mainstationsheriffby ckuan,What about this:
Troubleshooting notifications
Push notifications require an active Wi-Fi or cellular connection.
Note: Notifications use Wi-Fi only when a cellular connection is unavailable. Firewalls and proxy servers may affect your ability to receive notifications. For more information, see Unable to use Apple Push Notification service (APNs).
If you're not receiving notifications for a specific app, try these steps:
- Verify that the app supports notifications.
- After installing an app or restoring a backup to a different iOS device, open the app to begin receiving notifications. If the app requires entering or logging in to an account, you will need to do this before receiving notifications.
- Check Settings > Notification Center to ensure that the app is configured for notifications. If notifications do not appear in the Notification Center, verify that the Notification Center setting for the app is enabled.

Nov 1, 2013 7:43 AM in response to ckuanby mainstationsheriff,i tried all of that. i also turned notifications off and back on. wi-fi and cellular connections are both working and are set the way they have always been set. i also checked for proper activation of alert settings for each of these apps.

Nov 1, 2013 7:49 AM in response to mainstationsheriffby ckuan,Maybe the apps are not IOS 7 compatible?
Should contact the app developer.

Nov 1, 2013 7:52 AM in response to ckuanby mainstationsheriff, you can stop trying to guess. the apps are all compatible. i finally found a discussion about this and it seems a backup and restore is necessary.
