adding a computer to time capsule

I need to add a new mac mini to my time capsule for backup for time machine. I have my laptop backed up on it. I try to connect and it will not accept my password. for time machine or Integration manager. Do I need to reset it with the computer hardwired to the time capsule initially to set it up, like it did with my laptop ? I just installed OS Maverick , should I go back to Mountain Lion?

Mac mini, Mac OS X (10.0.x)

Can you actually access the TC disk on the computer?

If not then you can manually mount the TC in finder and see if TM will then work. Maverick did the usual apple breaking of things.

In the top menu of finder.. Go, connect to server.

type AFP://TCname or TCIPaddress

You will then be asked for a password... as long as the TC is accessible. If you changed the password from default use it otherwise it is public.

If that fails use

SMB or CIFS as Apple decided to break things.
