Does the iPhone 5s on Sprint require a special SIM card that differs from the iPhone 5?

My wife's phone is getting intermittent "no sim card installed" errors, for about the last week or two. We visited a local Sprint store and (after criticizing the iphones' lack of repairability!) told us that they didn't have a sim there that they could replace hers with due to the fact that the 5s phones require sim cards that are different than the standard ones. They pointed up to an Apple store (there isn't one very close to us). Does this sound correct?

The iPhone 5 requires a nano SIM. I would have thought that your carrier should be able to provide one (Apple do not make SIMs). My carrier posted me a suitable SIM free of charge within 24 hours of my phone call. I suggest bad service by your Sprint Store. (Assuming that Sprint are authorised as a carrier by Apple. I believe they are: I'm in the UK)
