Cannot load preview for Microsoft documents in wiki

Uploading files seems to be working fine.

Wiki will show me a preview of files like pdf, image files etc but not of Microsoft related files like doc(x) and xls(x).

Before upgrading (from 2.2.2) this worked fine.

It looks like this (it stays this way endlessly)

User uploaded file

I hope somebody can point me in the right direction to fix this.

Thanks!

Pepijn.

This goes beyond my level of knowledge. What's going on?

Talked to support. It is a known issue. Mavericks server 3 broke (complex) document previews in Wiki.

It seems not many people noticed yet. Support needs feedback to increase the customer impact number so they can put it on the agenda for a fix. Please call support or send feedback to www.apple.com/feedback!

The more people do this the sooner the issue will be fixed.

Thanks.

Thanks - helpful.

I've already logged a bit of feedback on this - not encouraging though, as the OS X Server feedback page only goes up to Server 10.6 in drop down for 'what OS are you using'. Suggests that the Server team are not paying it a lot of attention.

At least in the UK, the Apple Server team (at least the ones you get to via an Apple Care call) are totally unhelpful in my experience... 😟

Server appears to be a software offering from Apple that is doing well to survive rather than develop.

I've not seen or heard of any movement on this issue. It is not fixed in Server 3.0.1 and I've not seen any working 'work arounds'. My best guess is that we'll have to wait for some update to Server. It is at times like this that Apples policy of saying nothing about what they plan to do is irksome: it seems that there is nothing at all that can be done about this right now until Apple do something to fix.

I would like to specify that Wiki is still showing previews of documents uploaded prior to upgrading from Server 2 till Server 3. It's only documents uploaded after the upgrade that doesn't get the preview generated. A bigger problem still is that documents uploaded now doesn't get parsed and indexed. Before the upgrade using the search field in Wiki would show results for matches in .doc document's text/body. That doesn't happen anymore.
