Mavericks clock AM/PM disappears

I recently upgraded to OS X Mavericks and this has been consistenly happening since then. Whenever it's 12:00, and AM -> PM or PM -> AM change is required, AM/PM disappears. On changing the clock to analog and then going back to digital, the AM/PM indication comes back. Does anyone have a solution to this?

I have the exact same problem. It is occurring on both my 13" mid-2011 MacBook Air (the problem never occurred before I upgraded to Mavericks) as well as on my late-2013 iMac that I just bought.

Furthermore, I got irritated enough that I switched off the AM/PM indicator, and now I noticed that my entire clock display disappeared! (hh:mm)

As the OP said, switching to analog clock and then back to digital clock solves the problem temporarily.

I have found that in Mavericks you must select the correct time format in Language and Region in system preferences first before adjusting your time and date settings i.e.check the "24-hour time" box underneath the "Region:, First Day of Week:, and Calendar:" drop downs. I did this and immediately the time and date settings were responsive and my calendar and reminders etc all used 24 hour clocks as well. Hope that solves for you.
