Nov 3, 2013 4:51 PM in response to godoylegoby roam,★HelpfulI don't much about wifi, but talking to someone who does, he suggests the following approach.
Make a New Location, Using network locations in Mac OS X ...
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2712
System Preferences>Network, top of window>Locations>Edit Locations, little plus icon, give it a name.
10.4 instructions...
Is that Interface dragged to the top of Network>Show:>Network Port Configurations.
If using Wifi/Airport...
Instead of joining your Network from the list, click the WiFi icon at the top, and click join other network. Fill in everything as needed.
208.67.222.222
208.67.220.220
(There may be better or faster DNS numbers in your area, but these should be a good test).
Click OK.
Thanks to BDAqua for these suggestions.

Nov 4, 2013 5:42 PM in response to roamby godoylego,Thank you very much for checking that out and offering to help, Roam. You're a gem!
I am a bit unclear about your instructions from the point where you wrote: "10.4 instructions."
Firstly, I have 10.3.9, so I'm not sure what you're instructing still applies.
Second, not sure what you mean by "Is that Interface dragged to the top of Network>Show:>Network Port Configurations."
Also, when you typed,
"Instead of joining your Network from the list, click the WiFi icon at the top, and click join other network. Fill in everything as needed." I'm also unclear about what these instructions mean. It might be my limited computer knowledge, but I got as far as selecting a new location, indicating beside "show", in the drop down menu, "Airport", typing each of the two addresses in the "I.P. Address" box, and hitting "apply now." Still can't connect when I try "other" from teh airport dropdown menu, and fill in my wireless spot id# and password. I've tried wma, wep, wma2, etc with no success.
If I'm understanding everything correctly, I guess it just won't work. Hate to bother you again, but if you have any info or clarification, I'd be much indebted, as would the little guy. (:

Nov 4, 2013 6:42 PM in response to godoylegoby roam,★HelpfulI'm sorry the instructions did not work.
Please disregard the 10.4 reference that does not apply to you with 10.3. As each OS changes slight differences can emerge.
Instead of joining your Network from the list, click the WiFi icon at the top, and click join other network.
So that also does not apply to 10.3. OK
Let's try this again. As I don't have wifi I'll just be guessing all this.
So with 10.3 you have created a new location by doing - Open System Preferences>Network, > Locations> select New Location, give it a name. Click OK
Then did you click Apply Now?
Then with Show > Airport . Remove those two addresses you typed in, just to clear the decks. Again click Apply now.
Close System Prefences.
What happens, does it connect.

Nov 4, 2013 6:55 PM in response to roamby roam,Better still You could be better posting somewhere else like here
https://discussions.apple.com/community/mac_os/mac_os_x_technologies
and then Networking and the Web.
Because in this 10.3 forum hardly anyone attends here anymore and I don't have wifi, so I am of little help to you. I wish I could help but I just don't know.
