Hello,

I have a new macbook air and my old ipad is not recognized by the New Macbookair. What surprises me is it connects to an older macbook pro and also is recognized by another macbookair.

Here's what we did to connect the ipad to the macbook air.

1. first mydaughter told me to go to itunes and remove all associated hardwares to my apple id.

2. second we updated the ipad software to the latest version.

3. we connected the ipad to the macbook air, immediately we still hear the disturbing alarm sounding repeatedly.

This is the same sound that we can hear the first time when the macbookair was rejecting the ipad.

A new development was that the macbookair did not promted on screen the old message which was " iTunes could not connect tothis iPhone. This device is no longer connected." So apparently we are seeing some new development. Also from the ipad screen, the screen would flash intermittently "trust or dont trust this computer ".

This trust screen would flash and appear like a fraction of a second. What i did was to sort of catch the screen and hit the trust this computer portion hoping that it will connect. Well i guess i was able to sellect/hit the trust this computer for several times but it did not changed anything.

4. i had the ipad connected for like 20 minutes and the alarm was still sounding. The trust and do not trust this computer was still flashing intermittenly. I was thinking that perhaps after a certain period of time, it will get tired and allow the connection.

5. Went to the macbookair and turned on the itunes and logged on my apple id. Ipad still connected to the macbookair. Also please take note that i am also logged on the ipad with my apple id. After my apple id was authenticated on the macbook air, the macbook prompted, would you trust the computer connected, clicked the yes

and wow, it immediately connected and asked me, would you like to upload your pictures. There you go.

Cheers

Sam

I just found this thread while looking for a solution to the same problem. I have always synced my iPad with my Windows desktop computer and am just switching over to syncing with my Macbook. I connected my iPad 3 with an Apple 30 pin cable (that I got with my iPod Classic) and got the same symptoms as described.

Having read through and checked the solutions mentioned none of them worked and I then thought to try swapping the cable and using another Apple USB/30 pin cable which came with the iPad and this solved the problem. I'm recording my solution here just in case it helps someone else.

I had the same problem, and was eventually able to solve it - but the problem has returned.

I tried deleting the lock files , as suggested in https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5993423?start=15&tstart=0

However what worked for me the first time was going to the preferences in ITunes on the Mac Book Pro and change the setting under the devices tab, to allow the devices to automatically resynch.

That was working fine.

Now I have the same problem again , I use my Mac Book Pro to develop Ipad apps, and I think I might have disconnected the Ipad to soon after installing a test app. Now the Ipad wont synch - same beeping as sam_alamani (and others have reported). I have gone through all of the previous steps (deleting lock files, restarting Mac Book, Ipad etc), and still no luck

any advise appreciated

It seems to be connected with limited power supplied by new MacBook USB ports. The only way I found to solve the problem is to charge my iPad to nearly 100%, then it connects ok.

Another solution (I guess) is to use USB hub (maybe powered one).

I believe the problem CAN be solved by software update for iPad that would enhance detection of connected USB port's power. I hope Apple will hear our cries.

Hey,

I have 4th gen iPad and Mac Air 2014 and had the same problem (coudn't reliably connect iPad to Mac - battery charging icon flashing on and off, trust this computer? endless loop etc). People at Apple dealerships didn't really know what to do. They offered me a walk through standard procedure - update everything restart everything etc. I figured out by myself, that seems that USB 3.0 on Air is generating the problem (?),

The workaround that worked for me was buying cheap USB 2.0 Hub. Now I can connect every time without any hassle. Try it out and maybe tell other people here if it helps.

Also it would be cool, if Apple had any easy way to report such problems because it seems to be a bigger issue affecting many users.

Cheers,

Mike
