Q: How can we get pages 09 and Keynote back?

I understand from the forums that Pages was changed in order to adapt to the IOS. The IOS should have adapted to Mac. How embarassing. No setup for tool bar as before for the items that you use consistently. Pages 09 worked very well and now it is like using a text editor. Very limited in what can be done. Keynote is a disaster. I have not found anything pertaining to the new Pages and Keynote that would encourage me to buy the units.  All said, I have had to go back to PC Word. Mail also doesn't work now. I think you got the cart before the horse on this new upgrade.        Sorry Apple.

I've only done the Mavericks upgrade on one of my computers, and in that case the install put the older ('09) versions of iWork into a folder (named iWork '09) in the Applications directory and they are still there and still useable.

Did this not happen in your installation?

Thank you so much. I located the IWork 09 folder and they are both there. I will start using it again. Thank you. I hope that Apple takes note and makes some changes, at least that's my hope.

Please note: if you open a document in the new version and make any change to it and then save it, you will no longer be able to open it in the old version. So, if you don't care for the new version, make sure that you only make changes while in the old version. And, the system default is to open documents in the new version - open them within the old version or control click on the document's icon and change the "open with" to the old version.

However, it is my understanding the new versions can export to the old versions' format.

Don't know how well it works for complex formatting though.

Ahh, I hadn't discovered that yet as I've only had limited time to play with them.

I have another question reference to Pages 09 and Keynote. I have resolved the issue with Mac, so how do you do your IPad and IPhone?

If you don't get any answers here, post either in the Pages (for iOS devices) or iPad forums - I don't have the iOS version of it installed (yet), so I can't be of help there.

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

I had lost all of my favorite templates when I upgraded (I should have read the reviews FIRST) and was totally lost! I cannot thank you enough for the tip to still work in Pages '09!!! It just made my day

Apple has rewritten the iWork suite from the ground up to ensure full compatibility between iWork for Mac, iWork for iOS and iWork in iCloud. They have promised to bring back many missing features within the next 6 months:

Actually, if you had installed iWork 09 from a DVD, that is the default location for the install, a folder named, "iWork '09," located in the Applications folder. I don't know whether that would have happened if the iWork 09 applications were bought from the App Store.

This is so frustrating. I paid for Pages 09, loved it. Was able to do all the things I needed for creating/publishing items for work. Less than a month after, I get a notification about the new upgrade with free pages, keynote, and numbers. I was frustrated at having paid for something that I now could get for free, but this free product that replaced my original purchase is an embarrassment by comparison. The vertical ruler is gone, visible margines, inspector, etc, etc, etc. I just opened it to get some work done on tickets I need to publish and can't get any where near the former quality of product I could create. I want the old one back.. I looked for the folder another poster mentioned, but to no avail. Possibly because I purchased pages from the app store and not the cd. Any options without having to purchase even more software?

Did you look for the iWork '09 folder in your Applications folder? From all accounts, installing the new versions doesn't remove the old versions.

I found it there, but it feels like an older version than I had. I can no longer drag and drop margins, nor can I make it so that I can see the margins. It also isn't autolocking images, text boxes, etc like before. This along with some other functions can no longer be found. Maybe I'm missing something.

The iWork '09 version of Pages that I have is version 4.3.
