Ipad Air yellow screen tint on left hand side?

It's not a realistic perspective as most owners who have not posted here may be facing the same problem. They either didn't bother to post it here and went straight to Apple store for a replacement or putting up with the uneven dirty whites. And this could be 85% of all iPad Air's sold so far who knows? Or 99.329%? You can't go by how many people posted on forum complaining about this issue that's nowhere near accurate.

It's sad that this uneven dirty white issue is still going even with the iPad Air. You see, a long way back I was predicting that iPad 46 (model year 2054, the future) will still have uneven dirty white and light blotch issues until they completely move to 3D pad device.

The left side is yellow

i got the same problem with the yellow area on the left side.

To check if it was just my brain "wanting" to see that there is something wrong I separated the screen with a piece of paper. The left side definitively looks dirty compared to the right side.

Not sure what to do since (almost) every iPad Air seems to have this problem.

Maybe keeping it a month or two and getting a replacement?

None of this is new. This has happened with every release of the retina display since the iPad 3. I went through a number of those to find an evenly lit one with no weird colors or tints. Out of all the iPad airs that I've seen, almost all of them had yellow spots and/or uneven lighting. And store lighting does make it difficult to see. Not sure if it is the technology that is prone to these issues, or the cheap Chinese manufacturing.

Hello guys, I just had a call by apple because they saw my post they said they will take my ipad back and replace it, I think we made apple aware of this problem as he said they check the forums and the want to "capture" all affected iPads (which is a lot) so at least apple now know about this problem. Well done guys at least we made a change.

This is why I'm not buying iPad Air or Mini or anything right now.... I'm going to watch how Apple responds to the issue and how they are going to resolve and when the next batch will be produced....

Seriously, this is total deja vu. I feel like I've gone back in time by a year and a half, and am reliving the iPad 3 screen flaw issues all over again.

My friend got an iPad air. I asked him how his screen was... he said "perfect".

When I looked at his screen.. .his screen also had the issues with the "book spine" edge shadows.

This issue is subjective. He is not returning his, he said the issue does not bother him.

I have checked 3 apple stores and checked 2 from target and 100% of all the iPads on display including 2 from my friends and my 3 replacements all have a form of the "book spine" dark issue. Some are worse than others but the problem was absolutely there on all of them I checked so far.

I agree. I have done a similar study in my area and have found that all the iPads I have seen have the book spine problem. This is not present on my ipad 3 nor was it ever present. I'm hoping the screen issues are resolved with the next batch. Not sure when to go back and get another replacement though.

I got a new iPad Air and it also had yellow tint on left side of screen. My iPad, iPad 2 and iPad 3 do not have this issue.

I called Apple Support and they referred me to Epicentre Singapore who is the reseller which I bought it. Epicentre Suntec wanted me to go to a service center to verify the issue and get a service report before they are willing to give me an exchange. In the store with bright lights, the reseller person says he cannot see the difference. The issue is very obvious in low ambient light especially switching off lights and using it at night. It is a pain in the *** for me to get an exchange.

Please advise me on how I can get it exchanged without going in circles!

Apple, please please please setup an Apple Store in Singapore. These resellers here have very bad service especially with respect to this.

Same problem here. A slight yellow tint on the left side of the screen in portrait mode. It's most obvious in low amient light with the Safari keyboard pulled up. I'll wait a few days and exchange it if it doesn't clear up.

Note that the number of backlight LEDs has been reduced in the Air. Previous gen devices used 84 individual LEDs while the Air uses only 36. That's quite a significant drop (less than 1/2 the number of LEDs in previous gen devices).

That might explain the "bookspine" effect being light fall off, which admittedly I do now notice on mine, but to be honest I'm not bothered by it as it's not noticeable enough that it intereferes with photos (which is my main use for it). The left side is where all the CPU and other chips etc reside.

This is now the third incarnation of the iPad of which I have had screen issues. A huge dark spot on the 3rd Gen, screen brightness flares on the 4th Gen and now this dark line on the edge of the Air. Plus, I had to replace the iPad 2 as we'll due to the screen separating from the back. I will be replacing the Air if this issue does not clear up in the next few days. It is one thing to have one product with defects, but to have defects with purchases in the entire line is starting to make me reconsider my use of an iPad even though I love the thing. By the way, they were never able to provide me with a properly functioning 4th Gen, even after 2 replacements. I had to just give up and keep a defective one. I'm not sure if I will do that this time.

Mine has the same problem and I must exchange it in 15days.
