Ipad Air yellow screen tint on left hand side?
Hi, I have just got a new ipad air today. I am noticing that the left side of the screen has a yellow tint. Should I take it back for a replacement?
iPad, iOS 7.0.3, Ipad Air

Hi, after five months after I have buyed my air 3g, I've replaced it because in it's screen there was an grain dust.
Now,, my ipad air has a perfect screen uniformity but the color of screen is warm.... little too warm respect of my previous ipad air.
it is possible that in the coming days will become less warm / yellowish??
I bought an iPad Air and it also came with the screen uniformity issues. It came with a darker band on the left side of the screen and it was horrible.
The model was manufactured by Foxconn in Brazil. Will made in China with the same defect?
I sent it back to Apple and got a refund.
Finding an acceptably uniform Air is still a lottery and I doubt anything will change. I suspect the issue here is that the limitations of current lightguide technology are exacerbated in Apple's designs and/or manufacturing capabilities, making it difficult to make a uniformly lit screen.
I know your post is extremely old, but with the serial number thing, I checked my iPad mini with Retina, which I heard has awful screen problems as well, similar problems the iPad Air was experiencing, and it's serial number code is DLXL, it has a perfect screen that I'm aware of, but it has almost bubbles inside the glass in a couple places, and some of the paint from the black bezel behind the glass is missing in the upper right hand corner, and I can see light escaping if I view it from a top down angle.
I seem to be one of the few who got lucky with a flawless iPad Air screen on the second try. I'm not sure this really has anything to do with the problem but for what it's worth my Air serial number begins with DMPM.
i just bought a 128GB iPad Air, and it also has a nonuniform yellow screen. The tint is awful, and what's more frustrating is AT&T will charge me a 10% restocking fee to return or exchange it. I've been burned on this same issue before, but this is it. I'm done. Apple is the worse when it comes to quality control. Over the years I've gone through 2 dozen iPads and a dozen or so iPhones all because of screen issues. Apple is the worse.
I had umpteen Airs and Mini Rs last year and gave up and bought a Nexus 7 (after I sold a flawless iPad 4). I tried again in April and got a flawless Mini R but this one has a bit of an irregular working Home button. Apple is a great company but their QC is poor.
The black iPad in your photo is certainly more yellow than the white iPad and that might bother you, but that's not a QC problem unique to Apple. Overall colour temperature can vary from device to device from every single manufacturer. Also, it is known that uniformly yellow screens can get whiter over time.
The issue that started this thread is that the *left* side of the iPad Air screen (home button on bottom in portrait orientation) is more yellow than the right side. It is my belief that the majority of iPad Airs exhibit this non-uniformity and that most people either don't notice it or don't care. For those of us who do, though, it's incredibly annoying.
Based on your one photo above demonstrating backlight bleed, it looks possible that you would see a lack of colour uniformity since the left side is darker than the right, but it's impossible to say for sure (100% brightness with a black background is not a good demonstration of a problem since it doesn't represent real-world use).
kept in touch with the customer relations rep - bottom line is for me this is unacceptable - selling 1k devices on the premise of false advertisement (air devices in stores have perfect white displays) / bait and switch. I had close to 10 Air devices and they all were horrible yellow displays and the last one was OK but the display deteriorated. After some negotiation the rep arranged what is called a 'Technical Refund / Exchange' at a store (she had to work with a store manager)..... and got a 800 store credit when returning my device..... just bought the new Air 2 w maxed out specs..... hopefully their upsell techno mumbo jumbo "bonded 3 layers into 1" sorts out shait displays which scammed normal mid americans / people of the world FOR A YEAR (millions of customers) who would not stand up to someone that has 500,000 million dollars in the bank *yes five hundred thousand million or 500 billion ..... (because most people suffer of blissful ignorance or are not savvy when dealing with giant tech retailers)
