Logitech mouse generates unintended double clicks

Hi,

since the installation of Mavericks my Logitech VX nano laptop mouse (using the tiny wireless USB receiver) generates spurious double clicks when single clicking the mouse. This is extremely distracting and makes working with the computer increasingly difficult. I tried using the original mouse driver alone as well as using the Logitech control center. In both cases I have problems getting only single clicks.

Is anyone else also seeing this problem?

Greetings

Same problem here. I was using a mouse of another brand and thought this may be the problem, but now I'm using a magic mouse and it still happens. I do not remember having this kind of issue before upgrading to Mavericks. And worse: sometimes when browsing the web it doesn't even click. I have to reload the page and even doing this, sometimes it still doesn't work. I almost was not able to log in here to post on the forum.

I'm using an iMac.

Same double click instead of single click issues for me. driving me bonkers!

I have a Logitech Performance MX mouse on a mid 2012 MBP with OS X 10.9 (13A603)

So far I have tried the following fixes and nothing has affected the problem for me:

- Installed latest Logitech driver (3.9.0)

- Adjusted Mouse System Preference "Double click speed"

- Reset the SMC

Arrrgghhh....

Here is a follow-up to my issue...

For me, it turned out I have a *hardware* issue with my mouse. As to why this coincided with my Mavericks upgrade, hard to say... I guess unlucky?

Hopefully this follow-up will help anyone with this same issue.

(Many logitech mice commonly suffer the same fate.)

1. Verify you have a hardware issue with your mouse.

Easiest way: switch primary click button to the other side (Left/Right) - Test.

For me, the double click issue was only happening on my left clicker == hardware issue.

Steps:

-> System Preferences :: Mouse :: Primary mouse button :: Change setting (Left or Right)

-> Test with buttons reversed

2. Buy a new mouse or try to repair.

This instructable will guide you on how to repair the worn out clicker.

Good luck 🙂

This issue persists in the El Capitan and it is getting very annoying. I even replaced a wireless mouse with a new cordless mouse just to be getting same issues!

What the **** Apple, what are you playing on at here?! I've never had any issues until upgrading to El Capitan, now my workflow is completely screwed. Everytime I try to select multiple files it keeps opening them. I try to rename a file it instead opens it. I try to move multiple files, it instead opens them.

It doesn't matter how I set double click sensitivity in the System Preferences, nor does it matter if I have Logitech drivers installed or not.

It also doesn't matter if I use an older cordless logitech mouse or a brand new wired mouse. So the issue is definitely not in the mouse!

Year after year you have been making OS X less and less workable. You took all the good stuff out that helped with workflows and productivity and now you're taking away mouse support as well?! What year is this?? Are you really trying to lose all people who chose Apple products due to their performance over Windows and PC?! Disappointing!

Hi Eric,

Thanks for letting me know. I've sent my Feedback as well, but wanted to post here too, just to let people know it's not working and it is mighty frustrating and should by default not be happening, or at least not for sooo long (over a year!).

And it is further frustrating as Mac OS used to be the best OS out there for productivity and efficiency, however now they seem to be forgetting that and are just profit oriented, taking useful features out and letting in more and more bugs and less support. Even the whole hardware line is getting disappointing. So much for investing last 11 years into completely working from OS X platform. :/ As far as I've seen there's many more in the same boat, waiting to upgrade to new hardware, just to be offered 4 year old tech.

I know I know Apple doesn't read this, but as you said, if many people see this, they might raise same worries and hopefully things will start changing...hopefully.
