I see skipping too in iTunes Radio on my 2nd-gen iPad mini running iOS 7.1.1.
Sometimes, it'll play music for a while just fine. Sometimes it starts skipping a number of songs, but then eventually plays one. Sometimes it just keeps on skipping - and apparently does something really bad because the iPad will eventually reboot after a minute or two.
I also have the iHeart Radio app on my iPad. And the weird thing is that when iTunes Radio does its skipping thing, then I switch over to IHR and it also does the same skipping thing.
How does that even make sense? IHR and Apple do not share credentials. They're completely separate ecosystems. This implies to me that the problem is within the iPad (or iOS) directly.
I've tried the following without success:
- Hitting the play/pause button - makes no difference, the app keeps searching/skipping
- Hitting the home button (simply backgrounding iTunes)
- Using the app switcher to kill iTunes and then restart it
- Switch to the iHeart Radio app
- Shutting off and restarting the iPad (hold sleep button on top, then slide to power off) - not much point since sometimes the problem is so bad, the iPad reboots all by itself.
- Logging out of my iTunes account (Settings > iTunes & App Store > click on my Apple ID > Sign Out) and then re-entering my credentials to sign in again
This problem is hard to reproduce on demand - as I described above, it often works fine.
I have not seen this problem occur at all on my iPhone 5s (iOS 7.1.1) that is setup with the same Apple ID.
