Why does the partition that has ML 10.8.5 on it only starts up in recovery disk. Cannot install it again and cannot install Lion. Other partition holds Mavericks and it works fine. Any suggestions would be appreciated as my wife needs ML to do her work.

If you hold down the option/alt key during a restart, does it appear there?
Hi Eric,
I tried all that I found on the web and Apple Support including what you suggested. I ended up having to reistall from the ground up to get it to work., from snow Leopard to Lion to ML and finlally got it working again. Thanks for the relply. Keeping my fingers and toes crossed!
