Mavericks Users guide

There is none. There is no User's Guide for Mavericks. Really. Lets have a User's Guide. I think it's kind of strange that something as substantial as an Apple Operating system exists without a manual or User's Guide. A free upgrade without a manual Although there Are all kinds of books at iTunes ranging in price from $1.99 to $28.99. And of all of these books there are two for $1.99 One can not be read on Mac at all but only on iPod whick is pretty strange considering that Mavericks is OS X 10.9 and not iOS 7. The other is a book that lists, "10 Things To Do Before Moving To OS X 10.9". Have anyone heard of any buzz about a User's Guide for OS X 10.9?

  1. The whole idea with Macs is that the OS is supposed to be intuitive and easy to understand. And fun. You are just supposed to jump right in and use it and learn by using. It's more right brain, creative and graphic, rather than left brain, i.e., verbal. You generally don't need a user manual.
  2. This might be very unsettling for a person used to Microsoft, which has the opposite philosophy.
  3. If there is something that needs some explaining, you can:
    1. use Finder > Help > Help Center. It's just like a manual! And it's built into the OS!
    2. search online.
    3. write in to this discussion. There are a lot of people with a lot of Mac knowledge here who will help you.
  4. All that being said, I'm a fan of the Dummies books. There is one for Mavericks: OS X Mavericks For Dummies (For Dummies (Computer/Tech)): Bob LeVitus: 9781118691885: Amazon.com: Books

One person here asks if I have considered The Missing Manuals at Amazon, another suggests Mavericks for Dummies and another suggests iBooks. The first thing I did after playing with the new Mavericks is go to the iTunes Store to see if there weren't any freebies there. You should never have to pay for a manual. That is scupless, immoral and very unethical. Especially from a company that pays no taxes at all anywhere on the planet and manufctures that iPhone in China for peanuts and sell it (a phone) for $700 and up. And yes, I do love my apple devices, which leads me to question my own morals and ethics and sanity. But I will Not pay extra for a manual. No Not. And I only downloaded ML two weeks before getting Mavericks.

I don't remember that any version Mac OS, or Windows for that matter, ever came with a users manual. So, I don't know why you would expect to see or get one.

And, I've never seen anything in a 3rd party manual that wasn't covered somewhere in the built-in help screens.
