Possible to spin down external drives individually?

I have 2 external LaCie Mini firewire drives called to my Mini.

Is it possible to spin down 1 of the 2 drive instead of all drives. In the everygy saving manual, there is no option to choose individual drives but only all or nothing.

iBook Dual USB (600Mhz)/640MB, Mini 1.42/1GB, Mac OS X (10.4.7), Snow Airport Base Station, Airport Express, iPod G1, iPod Shuffle, 20' ACD

I don't believe this is possible with anything Apple provides. The commands exist to tell a particular drive to spin down, or to set time-to-spindown for some models, but I know of no OS X software that provides a way to send these commands to the drive.

Usually, if this capability is provided, it is provided through utilities supplied by the drive maker. Unfortunately, I haven't seen anything like this for Macs since the days of OS 9 & SCSI drives. 😟
