I just found out that someone is accessing all my personal iMessages, not sure how, but I'm guessing they are putting my phone number in on their iPad to track what is being said. Is this possible? How can I stop it with out changing my cell number

Not unless they have your AppleID login. You should change your password and set up two-factor authentication.

So if they have my access code they can put my cell number in to access all my messages? I just changed my code but wondering if this is possible? So are my friends. Thank you!
Let me clarify my previous answer. Your iCloud account is what links all devices that have access to your iMessages (that is, texts sent between iOS devices, and to or from a Mac). Unless they know your iCloud login and password, they cannot get access to them. It's nothing to do with your cell number, and nothing to do with the passcode on an iPhone or iPad.
As I said above, you should make sure you change your appleID password (ie your iCloud password) to something unguessable, and set up two-factor authentication using the link I supplied.

If you change your iCloud details and Apple ID on the device you think is being spied on, will they know!?
