Thunderbolt to TV through HDMI
I've connected my Mac through Thunderbolt to HDMI to my TV and can receive video to the TV but no sound. Any clues as to what I need to do to enable sound through Thunderbolt to the TV?

Is the TV selected in the Output tab in Sound system preference?
There's no option shown for the Tv in sound system preferences
What HDMI adapter are you using? Some don't support audio.
It's a standard Thunderbolt - HDMI adaptor purchased thropugh Amazon. Not sure if it's an original Apple product. I don't think this is the problem as the adaptor has audio enabled written on it. There's no option for changing the audio output in sound prefernces when it's plugged into the Mac.
In case you haven't solved your problem by now: Have you tried downloading Soundflower? This is what I did some time ago for the same reason. Soundflower then shows up as a sound option in system preferences. This is how I managed to get sound to a TV via a Thunderbolt-to-HDMI adapter at my workplace.
Thanks, that resolved my problem.
That was a tricky one, the sound option should be avaible through "Display preference"....
