2 partitions?

When I got on the computer this AM there were 2 partitons and neith of them was ML, and the one for Mavericks was shrunk to 52 GB, barely enough to run the progrtams instyalled on it.. The Second partitioin is about 80 GB. TheHD does not show up in the Disk Utility at all instead it is Mavericks 2. What is going on? I lost ML completely and I cannot fihgiure out what happened. Any clues?
