Mavericks resizes application windows and moves them around

This problem has started since I installed Mavericks. Typically I have Firefox and Outlook loaded most of the time, occasionally other applications such as Spotify. My wife also has an account on the iMac, so she logs in, leaving me logged in. When I switch back to my account, the applications have resized themselves to odd small sizes, and Outlook is sometimes half-way off-screen and can't be moved (if I drag it back on-screen it just snaps back to the off-screen position).

I have found a way to prevent this, and this is to ensure my wife minimises the applications first. Strangely none of her applications (Firefox, Thunderbird, iTunes) move or resize.

Certainly a bug that's arrived with Mavericks, so Apple if you're reading this please fix it.

My dock's always been on the left, but that hasn't prevented the problem. I think the workaround of command+option+D has been working pretty well though.

I just applied the Mavericks 10.9.1 update and when I logged back in again all my windows had re-sized 😟 Wasn't expecting this update to have this problem fixed anyway.

Yeah, it wasn't in the change log but that didn't stop me having my hopes up. ****. Come on Apple,pull your finger out!

I have the same problem - windows resized and moved. Interestingly something very strange happens with some apps - when you go to move the window back up, it moves down and the more you try to drag it back up it continues to slide down the screen till it gets to the bottom and goes off the edge!

Machine spec:

Mac mini 2013.

Latest mavericks. Was upgraded from mountain lion.

Hdmi output to monitor.

1920x1080 resolution.

Happens upon resume from screensaver 3 out of 10 times.

Doesnt seem to be just particular apps - but typically vmware fusion is the one that most commonly slides down and wont come back.

I ran a disk permissions repair - no help. I ran a disk verify and there was no errors found. Logfiles show no errors at or anywhere near the time the problem occurs.

Reluctant to create a new user profile. Closing the apps and re-opening them is my solution for now.

But it is bad - and sadly this is the sort of bug I would expect from a Windows operating system. Windows does stuff like this all the time and you take it that its just how windows is. But my expectations of a mac are much greater as the mac is light years ahead in so many ways IMHO. Macintosh is still the best personal computer money can buy IMHO but bugs like this are so very annoying.

That describes my problem exactly. Most all windows are affected, but particularly Chrome. I'm using a Mini with HDMI.

Same issue here on imac (21.5-inch, Late 2013), Processor 2,9 GHz Intel Core i5 Maverick10.9.1 Build 13B42. It is happening to a lot of resizing different programs windows, and with the windows of Finder more than any other.

Really annoying, would be nice hearing something from Apple, Like : Here is how it can be Fix It!

You will hear nothing from Apple here. It is a user to user forum. Apple have simply provided the site and the rules.
