OS X Mavericks Time Machine Issues

After installing OS X my Time Machine has been unable to complete a backup. I'm getting an error indicating "sparsebundle could not be accessed (error(null))." I have powered the Time Machine down and back up again with no change in status. Any ideas on further options?
