Warped lid fixed

So, my two day old MacBook Pro curves up slightly on the edges of the lid. Something I've read about on several sites. No big deal but I began to wonder if I could fix it.

Now, the following steps are very technical 🙂

Step one: Power off computer.
Step two: leave lid open and grip the top of the lid with both hands.
Step three: place thumbs against inside of lid on either side of isight camara.
Step four: slowly pull the farthest outside edges towards you. You are basically flexing the lid in the opposite direction the warp occurs.

DISCLAMER:
I do not recommend this procedure for anyone to try. 🙂

End result,
Lid fixed, no damage to camara or screen. Everything perfect.

I understood the curve was to prevent the screen and
keyboard coming into contact and scratching ...

I'm not sure about that. Yes, there a gap is necessary, but one with a bow in it like that? My MBP, which I sent back last week, had a horribly uneven lid (among a few other niggling issues, which is why I am exchanging it) --the left side was shooting into the air while the right side had almost no gap at all. It looked ridiculous.

If so, many of us have defective MacBook Pros that don't have any warp to the lid. 😉

No, I think the lid is supposed to be level, i.e. flat, just as PowerBook lids are supposed to be. Both my former PowerBook and my current MacBook Pro have lids that are flat, and Apple pictures of PowerBooks and MacBook Pros show flat lids.

There is supposed to be a very small gap between the bottom case and the lid, to elevate the screen above the keyboard when closed. But that gap is normally pretty much even all the way across and from back to front.

Do you happen to wear glasses?

The reason I ask this is because I too thought I had a slight bow in the lid when looked straight on when the lid was closed.

Then tonight I noticed something - depending on what angle I viewed the lid through my glasses (through the bottom of the glasses, the middle or the top of the glasses) the bow straightened out and then bowed down instead of up at the edges!

Thinking "what the..?" I took off my glasses and sure enough, the lid itself is straight. It is because of normal distortion in my glasses compounded with looking at a lid that wide (17") that close that makes it look slightly bowed!
