Machine-specific DVDs can't be used on a different Mac model. You need a retail one.

If you have no need to run any 'classic OS' applications and do not need Tiger 10.4.11, the last upgrade step for most late PPC Macs is the Leopard 10.5.8 DVD install disc set.

When/if the computer shipped with an OS X version older than Leopard 10.5.x, then a retail/full version 10.5 can be used to upgrade from Tiger 10.4.x However those Macs which shipped with the Leopard disc set, would probably need a replacement original install-restore set; & harder to come by.

You may have to call Apple Support or maybe the main/online Apple Store to ask if you can order this final version; others in Discussions have mentioned they were able to order that disc set (a retail or full-install not for a specific computer) version for about $20.

Hopefully this helps. (edited)

Good luck & happy computing! 🙂
