how can i remove a locked item from trash

Hello,

Recently I upgraded to Mavericks. It's wonderful but now I have an old backup folder in my trash that I am unable to delete. It's only 18.4MB but its driving me nuts knowing that I can't delete it permanently.

The problem appears to be a .efi folder. When I look at the file in 'Get Info' the "Locked" checkbox is selected but greyed out. What can I do? My OCD is taking over.

Thanks for your help,

Pete Bretzke

Hold the Option key down while emptying the Trash.

Hi, and thanks for the reply. Sadly this didn't work for me so I wound up deleting my account and restoring my MB from a Time Machine backup then re-installed Mavericks. Sort of a long way around the problem, but it worked.

Hate to say it, but my knowledge of OSX is lacking compared to my knowledge of Windows. Time to bone up I guess, right?

Thanks again for the help,

Pete
