Would the QWC Mercury Elite Pro -AL Mirror Raid 800 2X 320GB 32MB be a good

Hi!
Would this be a good choice of an external hard drive set-up for my iMac?
This has the Oxford 912 chipset. How does that compare to the 911 or the 934?
I only have 2GB of internal drive left and need to address my storage and back up needs asap.
From what I hear a mirror drove set-up has less of a chance of me losing irreplaceable digital files.
Appreciate any input from the forums! Input or alternatives.

That drive is an excellent drive. The 912 chipset is Oxford's FW800 chipset so it is a great quality chipset indeed.

No matter what kind of drive you get, it is always best to have more than one backup. Preferably one on a mechanical drive and one on optical disk - and keep at least one off site in a safe deposit box or somewhere safe.

Possessing more visual spatial intelligence than logical
I keep hoping to find a solution that other users report as trouble free, fast and dependable and under $700-800 so I can move on to other business.
I have been tempted to just plug in a single disk drive but every review has a horror story about lost and unrecoverable data.
I guess I have been lucky with internal drives to this point since I did occassional back up to Gold CD's with little thought to the huge files I upload these days. I need to be able to add 4-5GB a week at least 35 weeks a year and know it is going to be there for recall for at least 2 years.
I guess there is no singular fast easy solution but thought I would ask.
