The new Mac book Pro does not have a Mini Display port. ????

I went out today and was directed to purchase at the Apple store a Mini DisplayPort to DVI Adapter. So I bought it got home the laptop and 30" Cinema Display are connected however the highest the 30" displays at is 1280x800
What do I need to do in order to make my 30" Cinema Display work at 2560 x 1600?
You need a dual-link DVI adapter and not a single-link one.
