Wired mouse will not right click - lion 10.7.5

Not sure if this is related to a software update, but one day my wired apple mouse just stopped right clicking. Basically it is now a single button mouse - I can get it to be a right click only mouse - that's a tonne of fun - or a left click only mouse. USB overdrive doesn't fix it and my mouse plist flies are present. I tried an old hp mouse and it right clicks fine. I can control + click to get right click funtionaltity, but that is a pain. Any ideas?
