I travel quite extensively and am often in airplane mode. After ios7 upgrade, all my purchased videos seem to be in the cloud, with none on my device itself, so i cant watch them. This is not a question about rentals for which I have read the thread, rather movies themselves, how do I ensure they remain on my device? Do I sync them using iTunes / a wire before I go? What am I missing? Or do I need to turn icloud off? That's not ideal as it's nice to access my library when i finally get wherever it is i am going..

You don't need to turn icloud off, but you can set the Videos app so that it only shows the films/TV shows that you have on your iPad, and not to also show those that are only in the cloud : Settings > iTunes & App Store > Videos (under the 'show all' heading) 'off'.

You can either sync your films and/or TV shows from your computer's iTunes to your iPad, or you might be able to redownload them directly on your iPad via the Purchased tab in the iTunes store app - any that you sync or redownload should be accessible in the Videos app whilst offline
