Pages 09 document can't be edited with new pages

herrmajkl, it sounds like you have run into the same problem as most of us, that Pages 5 is horrible. No further testing is needed. Many are staying with Pages 4.3. I, too, found I could not do many of the things I needed in the new Pages so will stay with 4.3.

Tell Apple http://www.apple.com/feedback/pages.html

At the top right corner of your pages document, you will see Format with a piant brush and DOCUMENT, click on DOCUMENT, you will see Document and Section, click on Document.

Under page orientation, you will see header, footer and Document Body.

Remove tick from Document body and now you can edit your document.

Please ignore Twism-One's suggestions. You will lose content if you do what T-O suggests.

Pages 5 does a bad job of translating certain features in Pages '09 documents. If you can open the document in Pages '09 instead. If there is some reason you wish to persist with Pages 5, you will need to be more specific about the problems so we can suggest how to get around them.

The suggestion I provided works excellently for pages '09.

The "Format with a giant brush" and "DOCUMENT" are both in Pages 5.2 so I can't imagine what you think you are referring to.

Basically you are telling herrmajki to turn off the document body which will destroy all content in the document body. In Pages 5.2.

I had '09 document saved, when I went to edit the document, pages wouldn't allow me though it wasnt locked.

I reckon you find out for yourself instead of trying to sway people away from a much needed solution.

The point is your answer doesn't make sense and ignores this:

When you switch modes in Pages 5 you delete the document layer which contains all the body text and all inline objects. Not something most people will want.

This lets you move and rearrange the thumbnails, which was only one part of the problem stated by herrmajki, but at the cost of losing all or most of the document content?

Don't take wild guesses at "solutions" and pass them on without caveats to other users.
