I have final cut pro 5
I am using mac os x version 10.4.7 in my imac G5.
I've been having problems with compressor.
first doesn't run, finally I uninstall or removed files and install again then it worked.

Now doesn't want to compress AIFC/AIF EXTENSION FILE INTO AC3.
I don't know if there is any problem because compressor from DVD studio pro 3.

I compressed with quicktime mpeg2 format= m2v + Aif files.
then after that I tried to compress only aif to AC3 with compressor but it didn't work.

If I open Apack and place Aif file inside then I am able to do it.
This compressor 2 and previous ones drives me crazy.

Previously you were able to install only mpeg2 encoder for quicktime now you don't need it comes with final cut pro 5 and you can only using inside final cut pro 5 by exporting to quicktime then you will see option mpeg-2.

but sometimes it doesn't appear.
Does anybody know what I am doing wrong? Am I installing software wrong?

I wish compressor were a software that or application outside final cut pro any other application so it won't have any problems related with final cut pro or dvd studio pro.

i have come to notice and tested myself that when you just do an upgrade on your system and not a fresh install, all types of problems start arrising.

some reasons have been mentioned here. such as bad prefs, corrupted libraries, corrupted apps (yes it does happen).

when you go into searchlight and find ALL files associated with a secific file, trash everything, and do a fresh install, this releifs some troubles. i say some because if you only do it to one app, like FCP, for example, the rest of FCS can also be corrupt and start trouble.

i have done such things with only 1 app from FCS and i always have problems. when i do a fresh install of everything, all good!
