How do I disable password prompt at startup?

Did you check that FileVault is disabled? If you are using FileVault, you will be asked for your user account password every startup. Open System Preferences > Security and Privacy > FileVault, and see if it's turned off

Also, in System Preferences > Users and Groups > Login Options, and check that your user account is selected next to “Automatic login”

You should do that (i've done it and it has worked for me):

System preference -> User & Groups -> Select your user (Admin account in the left panel - mine is TruongTuanAnh) -> Click the lock icon at the left bottom to make change (type your password) -> Click login options above the lock icon -> in Auto login section, change "off" to your account name (mine is TruongTuanAnh) -> click lock icon again.

Restart

and enjoy it!

hi ! i have the same problem and i find a solution :

go to System preference -> User & Groups -> Select your user Admin account in the left panel -> Change password

type the old password only and for new password don't type nothing.

click "Change Password".

in the new window click ok

Restart and enjoy it!

I have the same issue, I want to disable password prompt at startup.

I followed your instructions, but at

"OFF' is gray

What to do?

now i can not disable password prompt after updating El Capital.

Or maybe I disable guest account (disable password prompt is only available when guest account is on?) I haven't not tried that
