Think about selling your ipad.

If you need or want to update, you might want to consider looking at (google it for other companies) the various tech sites that buy back used ipads. I know that gazelle.com is offering $70.00 for an ipad 1 16 gb in good condition and $80.00 for one that is flawless. You can then put that money toward a more updated and supported ipad. Gazelle pays shipping costs. And you keep your chargers, etc.

Act fast on any sites. The offers can drop fast, especially after a new ipad launch, when many are selling to upgrade.

If you don't need the newest and don't want to spend a lot of money, you might consider checking out the Apple online certified refurbished store. You can put that money toward a more updated and supported ipad. For example, An ipad2 16 gb is only $319.00. So you would spend $249.or $239. You'd also get a deal on an ipad 4 there. I wouldn't suggest an ipad 3 because it was discontinued after only months on the market. Also check retailers for sales. They come with brand new front and back covers, a brand new battery, a full one year warranty including 90 days of phone support, and are packeged in the white box which includes the cable.

We have ipad2's 64 gb for almost a year and a half and they are great.

A newer generation ipad will have facetime so you can keep in touch with family and friends, a camera, more speed, etc. And you can update apps.

Hope this helps.

Hi,

If you have an original iPad (iPad 1) it is restricted to iOS 5.1.1 because it does not have enough RAM (Memory) to work on iOS 6, 7 or any other version.

All other iPads (iPad 2, The New iPad, iPad with Retina Display, iPad Air, iPad Mini and iPad Mini with Retina Display) can get iOS 7.0.3 - the current version.

Hope this helps! 🙂

Hi,

Are you the same Josh as the original poster, Josh3400?

Yes. That's the most you can update. In this world of fast tech advances and faster profits, as tech capabilities increase older products become more and more obsolete.

It's more than just memory.

Yes. All others get the update. Eventually, our ipad 2's will not receive support, but we're holding out. They continue to make an ipad 2, so we might get updaes as long as the retina display.

Hope this helps.
