I have a lg chocolate phone mobile and i cant sync.

Im not sure what the model number of your phone is but the best thing to do is first to check here. ( http://www.apple.com/macosx/features/isync/devices.html) to make sure that your phone is supported by iSync.

If your phone is not supported then check out ( http://www.novamedia.de/sync/index.html). They offer a little plugin (unfortunately not free but well worth the 9 euro price tag). If you buy this plugin and install it, it could solve your problem. But first check to see if your phone is supported. If you cant find it on the list then email there support team and ask them, they always get back to me within a few hours, so you should get a fast response.

No LG mobile handset, nor any from Audiovox, Samsung or many other popular manufacturers are supported by iSync. The list you were referred to above lists the manufacturers and models supported by iSync.

If a manufacturer is not listed, you can be sure that models from that company are not supported. If a manufacturer is listed but your model is not, you may be able to find a plug-in that will enable synchronization with your mobile handset.

There are third-party packages providing support for Palm organizers and smartphones beyond the level offered by iSync, and for Blackberry, danger OS and Windows Mobile OS devices.

Hi, I'm curious what software you used to get a sync working. I've looked at OnSync and BitPim and neither seem to have the required config files for the chocolate...

Although the LG KG800 (or Chocolate) phone doesn't work with iSync, you can still send all of your Address Book contact cards to the phone using bluetooth. Just open up Address Book. Then select a contact, click on Card and then Send This Card... from the drop-down menu. Select the phone from the list of Bluetooth Devices and click Select. Unfortunately it doesn't work if you highlight more than one contact at a time, which means that you must send each one individually. A bit time consuming, but at least it saves you from having to enter each contact from scratch onto the phone itself.

I can't believe I convince my wife to move from PC to Mac - and she buys an LG Chocolate - and bingo - problems. I get the impression Apple aren't very forthcoming with updates. How long does it normally take for popular models (Chocolate has been out a while in Europe) to be compatible ?

Unfortunately, I've found that the best solution to be the most cumbersome one...

I installed the LG sync software on my laptop PC, ran a sync with my Palm on both the Mac and PC to update contacts, then downloaded the contacts to the Chocolate using the PC software. (getting the PC software to work wasn't an easy chore either...syncs are successful only 1/3 attempts due to USB problems...)

When oh when will Apple update isync?

I thought it just used a USB Mini to sync (like the Razr and most other logical devices) but, we all need to remember, this is Microsoft and the last thing they want is for things to "just work."

Of course, it does not have a USB Mini port, it has some off-the-wall connection, I don't even think it has a name ... =/

Today, I went searching for a USB > "Choco." cable at some mayjor computer stores - Comp USA, Radio Shack, PC Richardson, etc.

Don't even bother looking for the cable individually, Microsoft has it under a patent and prohibits any other vendor from selling it. Of course, the only way to get it is to purchase the $29.99 Music Essentials Kit which gives you a worthless software install disk (that doesn't work with mac) and a decent, if even that pair of headphones. Along with the several instruction and installation books that need to come with any unit of software to cover the many problems that will arise and give several patches to fix the already bugged software. And guess what! the best part is that it's NOT returnable! Only Microsoft & Verizon could conceive of something this aggravating. >:0

iSync will not work, I guess Apple foresaw this and doesn't want to get involved with the madness of Verizon & Microsoft.

I have yet to find any patches or work arounds yet ... the Verizon site has no reference to this problem. How surprising ... =/

Now, true, you can set the phone to Bluetooth sync and your Mac will find it and you can sync address book cards ......... one at a time ... how very efficient. =P

In the end, I have gotten no further then anyone else so far, I can not help you but I hope I have taught everyone who has this problem all the base knowledge they will need to know and maybe SOMEONE WILL PLEASE FIGURE THIS OUT!!!

How great... I can "sync" manually one at a time. Great for someone having 300 contacts, and some new contacts everyday.

It's not Apple's fault LG uses a proprietary syncing method, you should contact LG and or return that lame phone. Apple uses a standard for their syncing just like Motorola, Nokia, Sony Erricson and others. LG doesn't even use the standard mini USB connector. The lame LG Chocolate phone is also built with some proprietary Microsoft technology.

Get rid of that phone and your problems will be solved.
